Community Services Transport Driver

This per diem position will use City vehicles to provide both routine and special service transportation for clients as assigned through Community Services Department staff. Driving duties include punctual arrival, safe vehicle operation, exceptional customer service, and mandatory vehicle maintenance checks at the beginning and end of each shift.

Operate City vehicles, including vehicles owned and rented by the City for the purpose of providing transportation to the City’s program participants. Follows the rules of the road as well as all applicable safety procedures. Provides an excellent customer experience to passengers and program participants. Ensures public trust in City services by being punctual and performing driving tasks in such a way that passengers are safe and comfortable.

ensure the safety of passengers and assist in loading and unloading program participants from City vehicles. Maintain a high level of knowledge of the City’s Vehicle Use Policies and the operation manuals for City vehicles.
Minor Responsibilities (5%):
 Attend required safety training related to operating City vehicles
 Minor Administrative tasks such as time sheets are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
 Participate in the continuous improvement of the City of Winooski by identifying concerns, and offering solutions.

Minimum Job Skills, Knowledge, Skills, and Aptitudes, and Qualifications:
 High School Diploma, GED and one year of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
 Customer service, public service or previous van or bus driving experience preferred.
 Must have Valid Operator’s License, and ability to consistently maintain an Operator’s License throughout employment.
 Must have safe driving record and ability to submit to annual motor vehicle record checks
 Ability to work varied hours throughout the week based on Community Services program schedule.
