Intern for a Materials Courier

The position would include: Picking up construction material samples on construction projects throughout the State, bringing the samples back to the Central Laboratory in Berlin, entering samples into the construction management system, and delivering samples to the correct lab for testing at the Central Laboratory.    May help Lab Technician in one of the labs (concrete, soils, aggregate, HMA, binder or Chemistry Lab) if needed.  Some administrative office duties as needed (answering phone, taking messages or greeting the public as well as some filing).

 

Great chance to get hands on experience handling construction materials, materials computer experience, as well as administrative skills.

Candidates must: • Be at least 18 years old • Be a high school graduate (or GED) • Possess knowledge of basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole and fractional numbers, and computation of areas and volumes of regular shapes • Have at least basic computer skills • Have the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing • Have the ability to learn quickly the routine technical work of the unit • Have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships • Have the ability to become familiar with and follow the rules, regulations, policies and procedures as they pertain to the assignment. • Have a valid driver’s license

Monday-Friday 40 hours, but able to be flexible, for the right candidate. Position expected to run from August 7-November 1.
