VITA Tax Site Coordinators – 2 Positions

Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity has two part-time, temporary openings for VITA Tax Site Coordinators in our Chittenden Community Action (CCA) program to assist in coordinating the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program. The VITA Program provides free federal and state income tax preparation for income eligible Chittenden County households from February 1st through April 15th.
In collaboration with the United Way of Northwest VT Working Bridges program, the Working Bridges VITA Site Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and organizing VITA volunteers at workplace sites; maintaining technical knowledge of federal and state tax preparation; assisting and advocating for low income individuals and families seeking assistance with basic needs; and other related duties as needed. A flexible schedule (occasional evening hours) and independent transportation is required.
The CCA VITA Site Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and organizing VITA volunteers on Saturdays and two evenings per week; maintaining technical knowledge of federal and state tax preparation; assisting and advocating for low income individuals and families seeking assistance with basic needs; determining eligibility for various Community Action programs and services, and other related duties as needed.
Successful candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline plus 2 years of community service experience or a combination of education and experience from which comparable skills and knowledge are acquired. Accounting or income tax preparation experience is highly desirable. Excellent organizational, computer, verbal and written communication skills are essential; bilingual abilities a plus.
