November is a time to celebrate the harvest and the bounty and to be thankful for blessings received. It’s a time of reflection about the year past and anticipation of the year yet to come. And it is a moment where we are enriched by the friends and family that we keep near. The Thanksgiving namesake, dovetails two ideas of utter simplicity and power – thanks, and giving.
Vermont Works for Women is grateful to our many friends, donors, and supporters who have enriched our organization this past year though the donation of volunteer time, in-kind resources, and financial contributions. You generosity has grown our inner bounty, made visible through our programs and participants impacted. With your support, Vermont Works for Women was able to offer our career exposure and workforce readiness training to 932 women and girls last year.
Your contributions helped us to launch two new girls’ programs, Dirt Divas Rock and Rosie’s Girl Weld, this past year. Dirt Divas Rock is a new winter/summer camp offering that uses rock climbing to instill confidence and “grit” in middle school girls. Rosie’s Girls Weld gives girls in depth trade skills development and career exposure, with the help of a mig welder and safety googles.
Your ongoing support of our work enables us to continue to produce high quality programming which helps women and girls to make deliberate choices about their lives and their work. Your gift helps our participants to have an expanded sense of opportunity and the courage to pursue their dreams. Thank you for your support of our work and for the shared belief that investing in women today, is an investment in families, communities, and our state tomorrow.
Happy Thanksgiving, to all!
