Labor of Love Multimedia Exhibit
As part of our upcoming 25th anniversary celebration, VWW is pleased to announce Labor of Love, a multimedia exhibit in collaboration with the Vermont Folklife Center that will celebrate women who are passionate about their work, who are an inspiration to others, and who exemplify excellence in their field. Twenty-five women representing a diversity of vocations will be selected through a statewide nomination process. The Labor of Love Exhibit will debut in the fall of 2012 at an event celebrating the 25 women, the role of women in Vermont’s workforce and work itself. (Learn more from our recent appearance on WCAX.)
Women from all professional and demographic groups – not just those served by VWW – are eligible to be nominated.
Labor of Love is being created in collaboration with the Vermont Folklife Center and made possible by support from the Vermont Women’s Fund and FairPoint Communications.
The nominations period is closed. We thank you for all your interest in this project – more than 150 nominations were received for women from across the state!
- While prospective nominees may also be accomplished in their homes and communities, it is their distinguished role in their chosen field that is being recognized and celebrated through this project.
- The women who are chosen are already inspiring to their peers – as part of their participation in the multi-media exhibit, they will be interviewed by a high school girl chosen by VWW to participate in a program on leadership, vocation and inquiry. The 25 women chosen for the exhibit will be expected to participate in a full-day of activities and discussions with other finalists and these girls on May 5th at Spaulding High School in Barre.
- Nominees should be comfortable talking about themselves and their work, and they must agree to have their photographs and recorded interviews displayed as part of the Labor of Love exhibit. (Photography will be handled by Mary Claire Carroll of Carroll Photos.)
- Current staff and board members of Vermont Works for Women are not eligible to be included in the Labor of Love exhibit.
