For Hartford Area Career and Technical Center

The Hartford School District is seeking a dynamic, caring, student-focused professional to assume the duties of Director effective July 1, 2021. The Hartford Area Career and Technology Center (HACTC) is one of twelve regional technical centers in Vermont. HACTC currently serves 330 students students attending Hanover, Hartford, Lebanon, Mascoma, Windsor and Woodstock High Schools, along with Rivendell Academy, Thetford Academy, Sharon Academy, Mid Vermont Christian School and also home-study students. The Center currently has 12 occupational programs plus Career & Technology Exploration, Cooperative Education and pre-tech programs.

HACTC is located in the village of White River Junction, in beautiful central Vermont on the Connecticut River. The school district is located within a two and a half hour drive of both Montreal and Boston, in what is known as the Upper Valley. We enjoy close proximity to Dartmouth College, several outstanding hospitals and an abundant array of recreational and cultural amenities.

The Director will need collaborative leadership skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively and compassionately lead teachers. A creative individual with an ability to predict future societal and geographical trends in local, regional, state and national employment markets will be essential for the successful applicant. The district also seeks to find a leader who is a nurturing individual that will focus on the continued development of a collaborative and professional culture at the center. He/she should believe in teacher leadership, student voice, transparency, equity, diversity, inclusivity and co-construction of shared professional learning, leadership and vision. Additionally, the HACTC Director is a member of the Hartford School District (HSD) Leadership Team and shares responsibilities for the overall administration of the district with the 14 other HSD administrators.

1.Degree Preferred: Masters 2.Experience Preferred: Industry, technical and regular education experience preferred 3.Successful experience in a secondary or technical school preferred 4.Master’s degree or higher with concentration in educational leadership 5.Ability to be fully certified as a Vermont Career and Technical Center Director 6.Strong knowledge of national and Vermont standards including best practices in assessment and instruction 7.The ability to work in a Professional Learning Communities culture 8.3-5 references At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred Master degree preferred Citizenship, residency or work visa required
