Fair Housing Education and Outreach Coordinator

The Fair Housing Project Education and Outreach Coordinator (EOC) will work with the FHP Director on education and outreach to and with organizations, municipalities and the general public about fair housing rights, affirmatively furthering fair housing, and building inclusive communities in Vermont. The EOC will take primary responsibility for maintaining FHP social media channels and distribution of fair housing materials. Summary of

Essential Job Functions

• Update, help create, and distribute education and outreach materials statewide.

• Help coordinate fair housing related presentations including trainings, seminars, and conferences.

• Work with Director on Thriving Communities initiative and related media campaigns.

• Manage and execute content for social media outlets.

• Manage the distribution of fair housing materials online and throughout the state.

• Assist with planning and implementation of Fair Housing Month activities.

• Assist Director with quarterly reporting to HUD and other reports as needed.

• Attend fair housing staff trainings as appropriate.

 Report periodically to Director on progress and activities.

• Other duties as requested

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in communications, social science, community development, or municipal planning, plus two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired. • A knowledge of (or keen interest in) affordable housing, community development, fair housing laws, and planning for inclusive communities is required. • Community organizing experience and public relations skills helpful. • Ability to interact pleasantly and effectively with the public and staff and an interest in working with a variety of socio-economic groups. • Familiarity with issues facing economically disadvantaged, low-income and multicultural/ethnically diverse populations is needed. • Strong computer skills; experience with databases, spreadsheets, publishing applications, web platforms, social media, and Microsoft Office desired. • Working knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Page 2 of 2 • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingual abilities are a plus. • Ability to quickly learn and maintain a solid working base of technical knowledge, including related laws, rules and regulations. • Motivation and ability to work well independently and as a team member. • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, access to private transportation, and willingness to travel in state occasionally as needed. • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events or meetings as required. • Ability to uphold safety standards

20 hour/week position
$19-$21 per hour
