Manufacturing Support Technician III


SUMMARY: Performs and delegates tasks to support the flow of production and manufacturing in the organization. Provide support services for shipping, receiving, inventory, production planning, purchasing, spectroscopy and product development. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but limited to:

Responsible for assigned shipping, receiving, inventory, purchasing, production planning, spectroscopy and product development tasks.Communicates with Production Managers, Production Support staff, Engineering, Sales and Business Development staff.Participates in cross training to continually develop and broaden skills in order to effectively contribute in other areas when needed.Evaluates, recommends and implements changes to the production process for continuous improvement. Reviews Manufacturing Control Sheets and recommends improvements when necessary. May lead or be assigned special projects. Mentors Manufacturing Support staff.

  • Direct experience in the manufacturing of thin film filters.
  • Fluent in Omega Live functions pertaining to shipping, receiving, inventory, purchasing, planning, spectroscopy and product development.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Understanding of Inventory Control measures.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and terminology pertaining to Omega.
  • Strong understanding of materials, equivalents and alternatives.
  • Strong understanding of Manufacturing Control Sheets (MCS) and best practices pertaining to the production process.
  • Experience with Bill of Materials (BOM) and routing.
  • Strong understanding of machine capabilities and expected yield.
  • Strong understanding of spectral behavior of optical thin films and operations of diverse measuring devices.

  • Performs spectroscopy measurements of material using spectrophotometric equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures and specification on the MCS, with maximum efficiency and accuracy.
  • Obtains accurate curves of transmission and blocking, from which data on percentage transmission, CWL, HBW, blocking wavelength, extreme ends and other information can be calculated.
  • Reviews measurement data in comparison to requirements and specifications reflected on the MCS.
  • Certifies spectral performance of completed product and/or components, recording and/or producing all required documentation.
  • Rejects material when noncompliance is found and submits re-run forms as needed.
  • Anneals material as needed to improve performance and yield.
  • Generates G codes as needed.
  • Conducts routine calibration of wavelengths and intensity measuring capability. Ensures spectrophotometers and other equipment is in good working condition. Performs and/or schedules equipment maintenance.

Five years related experience and/or training required.
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Bachelor's Degree in Business or Technical area preferred.
