Changing Her Story – Equal Pay Day 2018
Change The Story VT will celebrate Equal Pay Day by inviting Vermont legislators for coffee and inviting all Vermonters to take action. Early afternoon on April 10, Change The Story will join Vermont Business and Professional Women at the Vermont Statehouse to treat policy-makers to a cup of Joe and to offer up amazing Peanut Butter Bars made by Vermont Works for Women.
“As we distribute the Peanut Butter Bars, we’ll ask for donations to support Vermont Works for Women programs,” said Tiffany Bluemle, executive director of Change The Story.
“In the name of fairness, we’ll ask men to contribute an extra 16 percent since they still out-earn women by that margin,” she quipped.
Change The Story will also share its new Conversation Cards, developed to help groups start the discussions needed to drive change and promote gender equality. Leading up to Equal Pay Day, Change The Story will encourage Vermonters who can’t visit the Statehouse to advocate virtually.
“Through our social media and other channels, we will drive folks to our website, where we will have links to information about bills currently in the legislature that can help advance women economically,” she noted. “We will also give links to sites where Vermonters can find email addresses for their representatives.”
