Girls Tech!

Welcome to Girls Tech! Girls Tech is an annual career exploration event for middle school girls and gender non-conforming youth in grades 7-8. At Girls Tech, Vermont Works for Women (VWW) and Burlington Technical Center (BTC) offer students the opportunity to get hands-on and learn about BTC’s non-traditional programs for women through fun, engaging activities in a supportive environment.

Due to COVID-19, this year’s Girls Tech will be a virtual event. We are excited to provide middle school girls and gender non-conforming youth with career exploration opportunities through an online platform.

We anticipate this year’s event will include:

  • Online descriptions of each non-traditional program at BTC, with a video introduction from the program teacher and highlights of professional role models in those career fields. These industry professionals and role models will motivate and inspire students to think about their own career paths.
  • A live, virtual hour-long event in which Vermont Works for Women will introduce students to Girls Tech and BTC program teachers will lead a hands-on activity, describe their programs and answer questions in breakout rooms. This will function as a “field trip” during the school day.

Girls Tech exposes students to careers that are non-traditional for women, to help them make more informed decisions about high school course selection and career pathways. Help students explore the world of possibilities at Girls Tech!
