Trailblazers: Women in the Construction Trades
Vermont Works for Women's Trailblazers is a training program to support the entry and success of women and gender non-conforming individuals in construction and the trades. For participants, it is an opportunity to obtain or increase skills and certifications for jobs that are in high demand. For employers, it is a way to develop existing staff and identify new candidates to fill critical job openings. Trailblazers is open to women and gender non-conforming individuals ages 16+, no experience necessary! Students enrolled in high school and/or tech centers are encouraged to apply.

Join VWW as we provide an overview of the Trailblazers program in anticipation of our class beginning on April 4th in South Burlington, VT. You will have an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about what this program has to offer. Trailblazers is available to all women and people marginalized for their gender identity age 16 and up, with no prior experience in the trades necessary. - 7 weeks of hands-on training (held evenings and Saturdays) taught by NCCER Certified female instructors, covering core construction; OSHA10; electrical, plumbing, and manufacturing basics; and including a 3-week work experience with a local employer
- Access to mentors, job shadows, on-the-job training, and one-on-one job/apprenticeship placement support
- A safe, non-judgmental environment for individuals to build skills, gain confidence and explore fields that tend to be male-dominated, but where research shows time and again women have equal abilities to thrive and succeed
- Scholarships available through VSAC

I walked away with new skills I can apply in my everyday life, and I now feel more confident to explore a possible career in the trades. The participants and teachers were all excellent as well!
