Volunteer with Rosie’s Girls Afterschool!
Volunteer Co-Facilitator positions open this Spring
Are you looking for a way to volunteer in your community and empower middle school girls and gender-expansive youth?
Vermont Works for Women and schools across the state are looking for volunteer facilitators to support our Rosie’s Girls® afterschool program. We have specific, immediate needs in the below areas. Volunteer co-facilitators must commit by March 23rd.
- St Johnsbury school district/Caledonia County
- Lamoille South Unified School District and Lamoille North Unified School District/Lamoille County
- Mount Abraham Unified School District/Addison County
Program assistant helps participant to build a bird house in Winooski.
At each school, the two-person team will work collaboratively to support a cohort of 6-12 youth through STEAM projects and a social and emotional curriculum known as “Power Skills”. Sessions meet afterschool. Previous experience working with youth is required; technical experience working with wood or metal is helpful but not required. Discussion topics can include gender stereotypes, self-advocacy, and healthy relationships – an attitude of empowerment and inclusivity a must!
VWW will be available to support volunteer facilitators with projects, activities, and program planning.
All volunteer facilitators must complete a background check process in compliance with school requirements.
Interested high school students are also encouraged to serve as volunteer Counselors in Training (CIT). CITs play a very important part in leading activities, mentorship, and acting as role models to middle school youth.
